Teal & Twine ("we", "us", "our") is a sole trader business run by Lauren Brabbs. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit or buy from tealandtwine.com (or however your final domain reads), why we collect it, and what rights you have.
Who we are
Teal & Twine, trading name of Lauren Brabbs Office 20650, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, E6 2JA Email: teal.and.twine1@gmail.com
We are the "data controller" for the personal data described below.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
Contact details — name, email address, postal address, phone number (when you place an order, sign up to updates, or get in touch)
Order details — items purchased, order value, delivery instructions
Payment information — processed directly by Squarespace Payments; we do not see or store your full card details
Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically via cookies and Squarespace's built-in analytics
Correspondence — anything you send us by email, contact form, or social media message
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
Processing and delivering your order - Contract
Responding to enquiries and customer service - Contract / legitimate interest
Improving the website and understanding visitor behaviour - Legitimate interest
Complying with tax and accounting obligations - Legal obligation
Sending you marketing (only if you opt in) - Consent
If you sign up to our newsletter, we will use your name and email address to send you updates about new products, workshops, offers, and business news. See "Email marketing" below for details.
Email marketing
If you sign up to receive marketing emails from us (e.g. via a newsletter sign-up form on our site, or by ticking a box at checkout), we will use your name and email address to send you updates about new products, workshops, offers, and business news:
We only send marketing emails to people who have actively opted in — pre-ticked boxes are never used
If you place an order, being a customer does not automatically sign you up to marketing emails; that requires a separate, clear opt-in
We use Squarespace Email Campaigns to send these emails and manage our mailing list; your email address is stored and processed by Squarespace under their own data protection safeguards, in addition to this policy
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link — you can opt out at any time, and we'll stop sending you marketing emails as soon as reasonably possible after you do
We keep records of consent (when and how you opted in) so we can demonstrate compliance if asked
Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect transactional emails (e.g. order confirmations, delivery updates), which we send regardless as part of fulfilling your order
Who we share data with
We share data only where necessary to run the business:
Squarespace — our website and e-commerce platform, Squarespace Payments for processing card payments, and Squarespace Email Campaigns for our newsletter (if you opt in)
Royal Mail / couriers — to deliver your order, we share your name and delivery address
HMRC / our accountant — for tax and accounting purposes, where required
We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not share it for third-party marketing purposes.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to make the site work properly and to understand how visitors use it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings or via the cookie banner on our site. Disabling some cookies may affect how the site functions (e.g. your basket may not remember items).
How long we keep data
Order and transaction records: kept for 6 years to meet UK tax record-keeping requirements
Enquiry/correspondence data: kept for as long as reasonably needed to resolve the matter, then deleted
Technical/analytics data: retained per Squarespace's standard analytics retention settings
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Ask us to correct inaccurate data
Ask us to delete your data (subject to our legal obligations, e.g. tax records)
Object to or restrict certain processing
Ask for your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at teal.and.twine1@gmail.com. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
